I might be  getting my dads P reg Golf 1.8 SE later this year, he has had it from nearly new and its still done less than 50k. Then i can get rid of my 2004 Passat TDi thats done 172k and is feeling tired!

Mk3's are getting thinner on the ground so should be a perfect daily for me!

So its on the road now and i have actually driven it. Goes ok for a 1400 although the list of stuff to sort includes strut top mounts,rear wheel bearings and blowing exhaust. I did know about these so not really a shock. Apart from those it is fine. I am revelling in the basic-ness of it all. As a daily to drive to work and back its perfect.

How is it on fuel ? Mrs.F claims her Polo 6N (with the same AEX engine) returns close to 50MPG on a run !

Dont know yet but i took it for a good run today (about 70 miles) and the gauge hasn't moved....

Brimmed it today so i will know in a month or so...
