Anyone know where I can get hold of brake shoes springs and hold down pins for a French built Mk 1 Toyota Yaris?

I got some from local parts place when i needed some. Took old ones in and they checked them by eye.

APEC braking make fitting kits for most cars. EBay or your local factor . they have an online catalogue so you can provide a number

Thanks for the suggestions - I'd already searched Ebay without success, didn't get anywhere with APEC.  I tried another internet trawl  - first up, a company called  "Micks Garage" (Note that this is a bog standard UK registered 12 year old Yaris). I supplied the car registration and model on their query form.

Reply to my query:

"As the car is registered overseas it is very hard to match the parts for it as the usual information we can obtain from reg number is not available to us. By any chance do you have the original part numbers off the parts that are on the car?"

Why did they think it was registered overseas, and how often have you seen a part number on a 1 inch spring?

So, after a further fruitless e-mail, on to the next company - "Doctorcarparts"

I found the correct listing for a French built Mark 1 Yaris (there was also a listing for the Japanese built cars with different fixing kits), so e-mailed them.

Here is the first part of my query: "Brake shoe fitting kit, French built Toyota Yaris 1.0 litre  Mk1"

Reply received: "Was the vehicle produced in Japan?"

I persevered - sent another e-mail, no reply. Sent a further e-mail to the generic sales address, no reply. So I called them (as I really do want to help their business and get something in return), gave the correct fitting kit listed on their website with the reference number. Some investigation ensued. I was then told that the fitting list listed (despite matching my car) was not the correct one, and to order one which is listed as being for a Toyota Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugeot 107. So, after paying over the phone, I felt a bit uneasy - called again and left a message for them to contact me first thing tomorrow to make sure they send the right parts. Will the right kit be sent??

Yes twosmoke, thanks, I should have mentioned that I checked it last night, but I need two hold down pins per side, so didn't order it. Interestingly it lists the Aygo as having the same kit, so my despair is hopefully in vain!

The kits normally come with everything for both sides , the pics just show one of each component. APEC is good stuff too.
