Pillock Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 If it had heated screen you'd have a half-sized heated rear window button, and the screen would be next to it.You'd also be able to see wiggly vertical lines in the screen.
Vince70 Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Opps,,I've just looked at the bottom slip which was tucked away in the handbook for the car and it says Focus edge, I should look more carefully in future.I've a memory like a sieve the poor lady who sold me the car came round yesterday as I also forgot to sign the logbook luckily she only lives around the corner.
Vince70 Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Old smokey joe went straight through a ticket without any fuss. All I did was wash the dust off the old girl..I don't know why I call the car smokey joe as it doesn't actually smoke in the slightest and I've got to admit the cars a goodun and the condition is outstanding. It looks and drives like a brand new car so I think my father is more than happy with his £450 04 Focus. mrbenn, Bren and Shep Shepherd 3
Bren Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Have you had a good butchers underneath yet?
Mr Lobster Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Even more of a bargain then! I had a 1.8 petrol Edge as one of the many company Focii I had around that time. Preferred the diesel though, the extra weight in the front seemed to make it handle a bit better. From what I recall the Edge was essentially an LX with alloys and a/c. Might have had different seat trim but its ten years ago and I've slept since so I'm not sure. I really with I had a reason to go out and buy another Mk1 Focus, I'd really like one now.
Vince70 Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 Yes I've had a good look underneath the old girl and I can't believe my luck as it's completely rust free, which surprised me as I've seen some right rusty old heap fords from that period. I did have one bit of rust which hadn't gone through on the inside of one of the back doors but I got it it time with a trusty angle grinder and coated it in krust and a then a couple of coats of smoothrite and covered it in hard wax. The underneath is like new. What I can't work out is around the back wheel arches there's a carpet like material rather than a plastic arch liner it's as though that ford want to promote rust into their cars.Did ford get their rust proofing ideas from a 1970s Datsun.. I'm too tight to buy some wax oil so my Pela pump is full up with some of Halfords best fully synthetic so if I get time before I start my new job next week I may give the sills and under the arches a good soaking of oil for some added protection.
Minimad5 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Did you find out why the previous owner said it smoked ?Looks a god buy this.Have a friend with one, with some sort of sports grille and factory body-kit (actually looks okay) but boy can they rust.
Vince70 Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 She told me that it smoked when you first started it up sometimes, but I'm yet to see any and it's just gone through the emissions ok so I'm more than impressed. But I'm still going to call it smokey joe lol Minimad5 1
