New POD Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Not sure what you mean but when I bought it, the rear panel was covered in stickers! Daisies as in the WHEELS that were on the early ones. Got a set in my shed, with a plan to paint them red.
New POD Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 MX-5s would be excellent if their engines possessed torque. Sadly, unless you do quite a bit of tuning, they're gutless little sods you have to paste up and down the gears. I'll find a cheap one sooner or later and end up writing it off. I haven't found that. I love the fact that it's all very drivable, and them at 5000 rpm the thing really changes, until the rev limiter kicks in. Ours only has 90 bhp and horrible wheels but it's a bloody hoot. MOT due in 2 weeks. barefoot 1

panhard65 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Nice to see another MX5, I wonder how many we have got between us?I bought one a couple of months ago for a bit of summer fun. It is a scruffy old thing and has been lowered with stiffer springs and polybushes. This makes it stick to the road like s**t to a blanket but the down side is a very harsh ride. Mine is the 1.8 and although it doesn't set the world alight it is quite nippy and great fun to chuck about. It is for sale as well now. £550 shitters discount. MOT til may and tax december.
Fat_Pirate Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I've had this about 7 years now, I've no plans to ever sell it because I've buggered it up tuned it to my exact requirements: It was a bit faded but completely unmolested when I bought it. I've since added a turbo (a Greddy but now running twice the boost with Supra injectors, Megasquirt and intercooler), Torsen LSD, Koni suspension, and 1.8 brakes. It's very entertaining, but frankly a bit rubbish - I've ruined the balance between performance, handling, ride and general usability the original car had. KruJoe 1
Six-cylinder Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Great to see NewPOD, panard65 and Fat_pirate MX5s, any more out there?
xtriple Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Great to see NewPOD, panard65 and Fat_pirate MX5s, any more out there?Just sold mine Great fun and brilliantly reliable but not practical for a cripple with two dogs.
Six-cylinder Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Just sold mine Great fun and brilliantly reliable but not practical for a cripple with two dogs. Shame to have to part with it. I took mind shopping on Thursday and ended up have to put 3 bags in the passenger foot-well because they would not go in the boot!
New POD Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Great to see NewPOD, panard65 and Fat_pirate MX5s, any more out there? I would like another, as ours is technically my wife's car. How she gets 2 'fun' cars and I get a boring car I'm not exactly sure.

Sent you a PM anyway.

Different, we all like our cars individually and I have keep some of the mods from the last owner of mind such as the wheels, billiard ball gear knob, wheel style air vents. There must be more MX5s out there standard or modified.
