Excuse my ignorance, but what is a Serck plate?

A pressed aluminium plate with that late-70s-modern square-ish font, like the one on that Rancho.  From memory they came in around 1978 and lasted until, what, about 1984-ish?  Serck is the manufacturer of the plates/stamping machine, though I think they also made other sorts of plates too.

These plates are the grail of most shiters, myself included, as they are totally unobtainable now. Any car with them still fitted is worth having just so you can drive round behind a Serck number plate. "Why in gods name are you commuting 70 miles a day in a petrol Sherpa??" "LOOK AT THE FLIPPING PLATES ON IT MAN! THATS WHY!"
