Nay. That'll be a late Series 1 with the reverse light in the number plate light. Series 2 had black bumpers with the reverse lights.

From what little I remember they put a cable gear change on for one year (somewhere near the start of production?) but it used something mad like 5 cables that instantly wore and were a sloppy disaster. Still, it's been an incredibly long time since we had them so I could be completely wrong (I'd check Wiki but I doubt it's on there)

I think they had the cable change from 1969-70. Mad idea, imagine if everybody started doing it.

Oh yes, nightmare. I remember when a mate was buying a Passat, I looked under the bonnet and saw cables going to the gearbox - "Run away! It's got cable gearchange!"
