Whilst trying to find parts for my series 1 rallye I thought I would have a look over at eBay.fr maybe see if I can get a bargain!

For a start.. There seems to be hardly any cars listed but then I chanced across this!

Do I need to start exporting tat to the land of Pierre

Continentals prefer to sit on the wrong side of a car for some strange reason.

Still, many cars get exported from Blighty and converted, since used car prices in the UK plus the cost of transport, conversion, and registration, is often still lower than used car prices abroad.

So with your new*, unique* business concept, you can join the ongoing competition. Avoid doing it with cars that command a daft scene tax in the UK, though. Do it with cars that command a daft scene tax in your target market.

Ebay.fr is a dead loss for cars. Everyone and their chien uses leboncoin here.

I buy stuff in UK and sell here to earn some extra pocket money. Some stuff can be converted to LHD for PHAT PROFITS, and other stuff I just sell for spare parts.

The best earner used to be Citroen C15 vans since I live in a rural agricultural area and the c15 was van of choice for French farmers. I must have brought over maybe 8 or 9 from UK in the last few years, converted to LHD using scrapyard Visa parts and sold on for literally 300 - 400% profit.

They have faded out of favour though and everyone wants Berlingos or Partners now, and I havent been arsed to try converting one yet.

W123/124er Benzes would be a good bet. They are very expensive here because of their very high popularity in the "Youngtimer-Scene", but seem to be worthless in the UK. Like almost every other old car. Except Fords...

And VWs.

Also, anything olde ande Englishe will sell in .de and .at for top £££££ even if it's not converted to LHD.

Example: A relatively orderly but not mint P6 V8 bought for 2k will yield 5-6k € over there, if not more.

Mind you, the £/€ exchange rate, squarely kicked into the shithouse by the former Stalinist regime, is recovering rapidly atm.

This will be detrimental for export, but R16 TXes are getting cheaper every day.

Aye Series Landies are the same but the buyers are increasingly adventurous and fly/drive over to collect their steeds themselves.

Yeah, my brother in laws nephew - whatever that makes him to me - is that foreign guy that bids on loads of UK ebay auctions and then never contacts the seller as he has either bottled out or found something more interesting. He is currently looking at P38 rangies.

Apart from his blatant failure to comprehend the rules of Ebay he is actually a really nice guy and a true shiter.
