Good film, that.
Also found this linked from it, which shows BMC as being massively successful in the 1960s and not a basket case haemorrhaging money.

What the hell happened?? 82,000 people worked there?! I the reasons it all went tits up is complicated and can't be blamed on just one thing but where did it all go, how can we no longer make any volume of cars when not so long ago 50% were from just one company

Is that 82,000, BL as a group? If so the remaining bits still employ almost half that today; Jaguar / Land Rover employ amost 30,000, BMW 5,000(although that may include Rolls Royce) and there must be at least a couple at Longbridge. Plus Leyland Trucks and possibly some component manufacturers that were once within the group but are now independent.

It's not all doom and gloom.

I was surprised to learn (from Wikipedia so it might be a lie) that Frank Windsor is still alive.  He was one of those actors who always looked older than he was....

Shall we all just agree that Lou NEVER SAID THAT...

Well, at least 2 of the problems were caused by Wendy's tight top and short skirt, many of the rest cause by Lofty's obsession with page 3 models.

She does have a point there..... Wonder how these things* affect modern car manufacturing? Could explain a thing or two. Although in fairness Wendy's skirt wasn't short and we all know a Lofty or two.....

The ending is rather horrific

yes that poor allegro didn't deserve to die like that

Princess's wheel lock is pretty OMG. You could swing around a Routemaster where it needs to do a three pointer.
