Arse! Jag coolant loss

Recommended Posts

Jag started being a pig whilst cold today. Didn't want yo idle or run until over 70 degrees. Was wondering why until I noticed the temp gauge climb to 98 degrees and the bonnet start to steam. Pulled up at destination and checked coolant. Bone dry.... looks like a split hose in a tricky to reach place. Hopefully I caught it in time. The poor starting will be because of the coolant temp getting no signal. Over fuelling.

The pain is that thanks to destroying my CX engine, until I get Phils XM up here the 4.2 XJ6 is the main family car!

I was going to say my cortina is my main family car just now but none of my family will go in it .

Is the radiator OK? It had a slight leak at one point which I fixed with kseal or similar. Failing that I'd hammer a smaller silver Jag over it...

T5 not on the road yet. Moving house and business=no time to do it yet.

Fixed jag. Main hose from block to lower water rail...the pipe that runs beneath the radiator had a huge three inch split. Looks like it had been weeping for a while. Anyway being a jag I had to remove the air filter, the fan belt, two other water pipes and attack from under the car to remove. Given the car was rebuilt in the naughties it looks very like an original 1985 hose why the late giffer didn't replace it I have no idea. So I'll order a set of new ones and in the meantime 3 rolls of insulation tape will have to suffice! Anyway looks like the head and head gasket survived the cooking which is good news.
