Swap. My 940 for your 850/V70

Well, as some of you know, I bought this Volvo 940 Classic 2.3 lpt not long ago. At the time, I wanted an 850 or V70, but this came along, so I collared it.

It's a really nice old Volvo, mot until July 2nd, tax until the end of July.

Being the Classic, it's the entry level model, with no cruise, aircon and keep fit rear windows.

That said, it has heated seats, front electric windows, mirrors and tilt/slide sunroof.

Currently showing 210k, but with stamped serviced history until 202k, with a cambelt change at 189k.

All tyres good, brakes excellent, including the handbrake.

It runs almost silently, with no smoke, thumps bangs or crashes,

While I've had it, it has used no oil or coolant.

I should keep it really, but my eyes go gooey when I see 850's or V70's, I just prefer the styling of these models, although I will miss the rear wheel drive.

Any questions? Ask away.

Just to state, I thought I had a swap going on this forum, but it seems to have fizzled out.

You know who you are, so if you still fancy proceeding, answer my bloomin' pm's.

I may just sell this if the right 850/V70 comes along.

Any interest?

Depends how much.

If it doesn't seem too much like timewasting, I'll have a butchers at some 850's etc and take it from there.

Just missed a V70 on ebay with no test but taxed.

He's scrapping it on Monday and I can't do a thing about it as I'm working.

Righty ho.

I've made an offer on a V70.

Should the car still be available and my offer is accepted, would there be any interest at £350 for my 940?

It's a nice car at what I think is a reasonable price.

Stands by for a flood of enquiries.......

I have found something, so £350 anyone?

I have been trying to get a reasonable insurance quote for it,Over £500 everywhere.

Gawd blimey.

I'm with the co-op, 270 quid.

Have you tried them?

I'm on an unlimited mileage policy with the VOC through Footman James and I'm paying about £270 a year for a 740 and a 940 Turbo!

Im not a Volvo man but that looks a bloomin good car for 350 sovs

If I was 110 years older and had the room for it, etc etc

If only it was September, not April. I'd be on the motorway now, heading home in my new winter beater 940.

Shame it's a bit too young for Footman James.

Volvo Owners Club at £25ish a year opens up FJ to Volvoists - as I said, my '97 945 Classic is on an FJ policy with no restrictions.

Thanks for all the comments fellas.

I think I'm going to have to withdraw this for a while.

The chap with the V70 has had a better offer, and secondly, he wants it gone pronto, so I don't think I'll be able to fit into his time frame.

I was tempted by this but the logistics of me getting it are a nightmare

Aye normally I'd be up for that but the reason I need an auto is because I broke my collarbone. Fucked if I'm overnighting on a mega bus just now. Where is it anyway?

Let me know when you decide to sell it,might have sold my polo by then....

Well, apparently the person - or persons - who made the better offer are now ignoring his messages.

I've emailed him again and waiting for a reply. Bit of a rollercoaster is this.

Hope he replies soon, I've got to go offline and get ready for work.

I can still sell this for £350 - as long as it's before the end of the weekend i.e. Sunday night. Impossible I reckon.

Although I will regret losing the car I was after (story of my life just lately), this old 940 is a cracking car as far as I'm concerned, so it's not all lose lose.

Reason for wanting a quick sale, nothing sinister at all.

Monday is the only day I've got to collect the V70, after that, I'm back at work and all is lost.

The 940 had to pick up her skirt this morning on the way home from work.

I was late getting away and wanted to say hello/goodbye to Mrs T before she went to work.

Blimey, these 2.3 lpt's don't half crack on when asked.
