vauxhall vectra active trim level

Bought new motor. Wife seen it,liked it so she bought it. 130k on clock 53 plate for £800 with tax and ticket. Does any Vauxhall fan know what the active trim level is or what it has? We used to own an Ls trim of the some year and the differences i see is the ls had steel wheels, sunglasses holder above your head and vanity mirror lights. This onehas 17 inch alloy wheels,no vanity mirror llights or sunglasses holder but it has got a sort of ebony fake wood trim inside, smoked lights front and rear like the later models have and chrome rings around dials what the later models also have. Its still got the rain sensing wipers and cruise control. Is there any mechanical difference?

I've had a look in my old Glass's Guide Car Checkbook 2004 - it says that the Active is a limited edition based on the Club, comprised entirely of aesthetic options - so you're one up from an LS, but no, there is no mechanical difference.

Spec is irrelevant on a vectra.

It will still break down.

Thanks ghosty. Thought as much. Bren i regret selling the old one we had. Just hope she behaves herself. And the fiesta sells soon!

My 07 cdti is a nice car but has the kind of faults that means you have to spend fairly regularly.

See my thread about the EGR, springs are almost a service item, glow plugs need replacing also.

My car has a low mileage which makes things worse - 66k.

What fiesta have you?

This one is a z18xe engine so no glow plugs to contend with. Roughly same mpg as my uncles 150bhp 1.9 cdti vectra so probably is cheaper to run than his being a diesel. Fiesta is a 51 plate 3 door freestyle 1.6 mate.

EGR's and springs seem to go on all modern cars. What are they making these springs out of? I've never had an old car break one. My dad's Mondeo has had three!

Best of luck selling - was thinking of getting shut of my other half's - it's a 51 plate ghia with 52 k on the clock.

However, they don't make much, so will probably keep it and run it into the ground - it's worth more to me than a poxy £500.

My vec had fronts replaced just before I bought it, just had a rear done when it was serviced.

My previous mondeo had both fronts go.

As for what they are made from I can only assume it must be pubic hairs.

Fiesta advertised locally for 425. Wont let it go for less than 350. Hopefully going Friday. If not ill advertise here. As for springs, our old Vectra in a 03 had two in 18 months.

Yeah Active spec was a special edition based on the LS but with Alloys, and SRi front and rear lights, colour coded door handles, leather steering wheel, count yourself lucky because in 2004 the LS lost a load of its kit like the rain sensor wipers and auto dim mirror etc my dads Vectra was the Energy special edition which replaced the Active but was based on the cost cut 2004 LS so it got the SRi lights still and the colour coded door handles, leather steering wheel the alloys got downgraded to 16" and in addition to losing the auto dim mirror, rain sensor wipers, it also lost the steering wheel audio controls, the centre armrest, rear air ducts, the middle rear head rest, even the 12v socket, then it got replaced by the Breeze which was identical other than now gaining an SRi front bumper, then on the facelift they stripped even more kit from the cars like the gas bonnet strut, boot release button on drivers door and other silly things, its a disgrace how much the Vectra got cost cut, but the Active was probably the best special.

On the subject of Vectras constantly breaking springs, the bushes are made of cheese as well, always failing, cheap to buy but a PITA to do

As i mentioned this has the rain sensing wipers, cruise, heater vents and 12v socket in the rear, stereo controls on steering wheel, the strange amber light what shines down from under the rear view mirror, gas strut bonnet rams,215/50/17 rims what i am dreading buying tyres for, smoked lenses, clear side repeaters and i forgot about the door handles being black on the old Ls we had and being body coloured on this one. As you mentioned cost cutting,i guess it was starting around the same time as ours as the roof sun visor pocket, vanity mirror lights and drivers side sunblind vanity mirror has been ommited already.
