Piaggio Sfera 80. Spares or repair. £250/make me an offer

It's not been used for the last 9 years but has been kept in garage/shed/undercover during that time.
Selling as spares or repair because it won't start due to a flat battery and I don't have a licence to ride it so can't get it fixed/taxed/insured.

It worked as expected last time it was used, but that was ages ago.

This model is the highly undesirable 'Sfera' model, the one before the trendy retro style vespa that came out about 2000. This one is better than those though because it's got honest shite 'styling'.

It's done 10,800 miles, 1996, P reg, one owner before me. It's 75cc so isn't restricted and can get you to the heady* speeds* of 50mph+, and then the reassuring* progressive* power* of the drum brakes* safely* brings you to a stop*.

I bought it in Dec 1999 to commute from outer London to Clapham, used it weekdays for about 3 years then hardly at all since then as a house & job move meant I didn't need it. Then from 2004 when my CBT lapsed it sat in our garage for years, then for the last few years after another house move it's been sat in a covered outdoor area under a tarp. The exhaust looks badly rusted, but other than that it looks OK.

I have the ignition key, V5 and plenty of history for it including original receipt. Sale includes a haynes manual, big chunky lock & 2 keys, Givi back box & 2 keys, and some 2 stroke oil.

Problems:
left wing mirror snapped off at ball joint since photos taken.
Seat lock broken, but I always locked it over the seat so it was secure, and kept my helmet in the back box.

Not really sure how much to ask so I've said £250 but am open to offers on this.

Also available white Shoei helmet (never dropped/crashed), jacket & gloves.

How many strokes does this have? I don't really want to buy it (well, I do but distance/finances/missus doesn't like the reflector on the backbox/my dog ate my bank balance) I'm just nosey.

Also, does it not have a kick start or can you get a new battery for it? it'll probably only cost about £20 and will make a massive difference to the end price/value. As it stands (unless they're collectable now or something) I would seriously suggest about half your price is what you'd get, purely because it's the wrong cc (49, 100 and 125s seem most popular) and it doesn't run, plus it's age and lack of MOT won't help.

I hope I'm wrong (for your sake) though and quite probably am.

Hi Chaps, It's got 2 strokes. It has a kick start but it doesn't kick start either. I realised after I bought it that I should have gone for a 125 instead, but for commuting there's very little difference in performance. I kept up with 125s off the lights but they would do about 10mph more at the top end. So I wasn't that bothered by the difference.

It's sat here for years because I thought I'd end up using it again and would regret selling it, but to be honest I'm not really a motorbike sort of person, and if I want a high risk journey I'd rather go by bike and get some enjoyment & fitness with my terror.

And I've got some Autoshite now to waste my weekends fiddling about with, so I'd rather see it go to someone that can fix/use it. Not wanting to sound like one of those ebay idiots, but I'l imagine that new plugs/filter & fresh petrol would probably see it working, I just don't have the time/inclination to sort it.

Dave, I'm a couple of miles from J6 M25, just into Surrey from Kent. I've sent you a PM.

Cheers,

Richard

Boom boom.

Does seem a little optimistically priced but bike batteries are cheap enough, would be worth getting it running. For an mot do you not have a local bike garage who could collect it in a van?
