The next cheap Scotland-bound Volvo?

Not the C70, that'll be prised from my cold dead hands!

Colleague is selling his 1995 850 10V saloon (DIY gearbox) with about 130k on it, 6 months tax and 6 weeks test.

ABS light is on which is usually dry soldered joints on the ABS module, fairly easy repair with DIY guides in the club forum.  Sounds like it needs droplinks too, and the rear exhaust hanger needs fabbed up, they're stainless exhausts on these but mild rear brackets. I have a spare one here provided it's a 60mm exhaust (mine's 70...)

Haven't seen it myself yet but it's a suitably dull grey colour and doesn't have too many toys being an SE. Car's in Seascale, West Cumbria and he's after about £300 as it stands.

A lot of car for not much money! I can pass on any interest and possibly get some photos next week for anyone keen.

And it's less than an hour from Carlisle so ideal for export* to Volvoland.

Hmm. 2.0 or 2.5?

Not sure if they are stainless exhausts, or if they are my last 2 850's had replacement mild steel systems 'cos they were rotten...and expensive!

They're stainless (albeit a low grade - will show surface rust) on the S/C70s anyway so I assumed the exhaust is on them too. It's generally the rear hanger that goes. Can have a good look for anyone interested!

It's a 2.5 10V - 140bhp

850 exhaust definately ROT, mostly on the top side of the big centre box. 2.5 10v same as my old orange estate- nice engine. Got any pics?

As promised! Timing belt wants done ideally as it's not hit the mileage to need it, but it was done 12 years ago...

Suspension noise may also be a droplink, but the nearside strut top rubber has collapsed so that wants done first.

Currently still has about a month's test and 6 months tax, he's only after £300! Seems a good solid motor, that exhaust rust looks limited to the tailpipe finisher, which could be binned anyway.
