Right, as predictable as night following day, the Cavalier is up for grabs...

MOT November

Taxed end of April.

1.4L, pre-facelift saloon. It's like the previously undiscovered, sat in a dusty loft Picasso of the Cavalier world, if you like. Can't be many left now at all.

Anyhow bodywork is pretty decent, though some signs of rust in the rear arches as per Vauxhalls of this age. Paint ok but not show stopping, interior needs a damned good clean, the carpets are a bit ruffled (as if someone has taken them out and not refitted properly) and the headlining is awful. It also has ghastly wheeltrims which need frisbeeing/fucking off asap. Central locking a bit wonky (it all locks though) and I still haven't managed to open the boot. No spare wheel/sack full of Columbian marching powder/dead plastic Scousers/1970's porn mags or loats of other things may/not be in there.

Great runner and surprisingly nippy (a very underused word these days, nippy) and not much at all in the way of toys to go wrong. Fab car, really rare find now and it's class in a bloody big glass.

Sadly I'm just not using it, it was whim/itch to scratch but a saloon car is no use to me. Also my little sister is in the crap a bit and I could do with getting her a car to help her and her large family so...

if possible I'd like to swap the Cavalier for a small-medium 5 door hatchback with power steering. Nothing massive engine wise or large cars please, something like a 5 door Corsa/Fiesta/Astra/Focus would be ideal. Long MOT, any tax would be a bonus. It'll be living in that there London so probably won't have a charmed, cossetted existence.

Or....£350/ish, it's in Chester, within very easy reach of M53/M56/M6 etc and I can pick you up from railway station if needed. I might even deliver within about 50 miles for fuel costs and train fare home but time is tight so no promises.

I've pre-empted that by having an ace up my sleeve; It has an Opel badge on the bonnet.

If this was a five door, I'd be having naughty thoughts.

Luckily it's not, so I'm not. Soz Billy.

Was it Oirish?

No, I think it was a failed attempt to make it look less Vauxhall!

*Cheers Joe, no-one can possibly fail to want it now!

Want. So, so much want. It's my birthday today and a man came and gave me money for my old gas powered 940 (ironically only £50 short of your asking price) this morning, but the sodding grey 940 needs taxed at the end of this month.

If I can rustle up the clams before this heads binward I'll have it off you. Scotoshiter's are known* for their ability to travel and had I the cash right now I'd be beating a path to your door.

Arses.

I thought you wanted a 940 estate? ;)   Good luck!

Back at you, Mr 206!

I doubt this makes Andy want a 940 estate any less..!

Indeed! A 940 estate is a 940 estate, but a Cavalier is a totally different story. I much prefer the pre-facelift and I've not had an OMGCHEAPTAXECONAMEE car since the J-reg Proton which saved me. Also this is my preferred spec (saloon) and colour (haze blue) and has RAERITY VALU (21 1.4Ls left according to HML). That and I've been fantasising about it since it arrived at Cavcraft and my missus has clearly gone soft in saying "It's just like the other one, why don't you get it?" so I'm siezing the chance while I've got it.

Insurance to sort then a resolution, hopefully.

Someone on another internet page reckons there's only six taxed ones left now!

Billy, if you do manage to open the boot and there are porn mags in there, I'll have 'em.

Unless the pages are stuck together.

Then I won't.

Any interest in this fine piece of automotive rarity/excellence?

Someone contacted me on Retro Rides who I assume was the seller saying this had sold. I then realised it wasn't the seller, but someone attempting to 'divert' me from buying! Weird! I'm glad he didn't get to buy it in the end. :)
