New wheels (only 2 of 'em)

Flush with the success of getting the Astra through it's MOT for £0 (welding to the rear of the sills and replacing a baldy tyre with one of the spares Mr Ross kindly threw in - fun, fun, fun till the clutch burns out anyway...) I've got meself a new bike.

It's not really shite, but I'm posting it here as these machines seem to be universally disliked by almost all 2-wheelers. Scooterists say it's too big to be a scooter, bikers say it's too gay to be a bike. But first impressions here at Chez GVM say it's a winner.

The Suzuki Burgman 400. It'll never win you any awards for being cool, but if you have a fat arse and can't be bothered changing gear it rules :D

Very nice....I love the large capacity autos....I VERY nearly splashed out gawd knows how many thousand on a Burgman 650 back when I had money....A Guzzi V11 LeMans got the nod in the end though! :D

I've ridden one of those, and found it very enjoyable, comfy, and practical....If a little limited on ground clearance when cornering - Particularly two-up.

The Piaggio B500 is one of my favourites....Much nicer than it looks....But my all time favourite large(ish) capacity auto was my Aprilia Leonardo 250....Not much bigger than a Speedfight, but CONSIDERABLY more comfortable and powerful! 8)

I've got my hard-worked Vespa GT200 on Ebay at the moment....This thread has got me having second thoughts!

May not be shite, but is very nice - as you say comfy and they will do 80 all day long even into a headwind with a lard arse like me on one.

I quite like it, very 80's-futuristic-style. Is this the sort of thing that gets modified by cool city kids in Japan? And was it expensive?

All other considerations aside, they just have to be THE most practical and cost efficient way of commuting these days- short of a push-bike, of course. Travel anywhere on the continent, not to mention the far-east, and those sort of things are everywhere. In Crete, it seemed that everyone over about 14 was zipping around on some such device, and the girls especially looked sooooo cool (or do I mean hot?!) on them!!

Don't hold back Torsten, say what you really think :)

Not really, I paid £900 for it - 12 months T&T, service book is fully stamped up, Givi box and the mileage is low so not bad I reckon.

The Japanese do have a thing for customising these, they're called the Skywave over there:
