Paint question......

Regarding an earlier post I made about motor cycle plastics - does any body know what colour primer to use under copper bronze top coat?

I can get a 400 ml aerosol from RS paints for £18 + delivery ( not cheap ), so I don't want to waste it putting it over the wrong colour primer.

Opinions, fellow shitters?

I would probably go for a beige primer. Make sure it is a primer for plastics as it needs an adhesion promoter and a flex aid in it or the dried paint could crack after use.

If you're wanting to match to existing paint, ideally you want to find out what primer was used elsewhere, coppers and bronzes seem to allow a lot of primer colour through, even with quite a few coats and a lot of work.

Usually, if it's a decent paint place, they would tell you=some bikes have a 4 layer system, where you lay down a white basecoat, then silver, then the very transparent colour, then the clearcoat.. Not easy. Probably why most damaged bikes end up rattted or flat black...
