For Sale: Volvo S40 T4 'fixer upper' for scrap money!

Right.

 

Just before Christmas I discovered one of the trailing arms on my S40 is knackered.  I could get it fixed after New Year with secondhand parts for around £300, but, as Mrs_WoC and I have been on about getting something bigger for a while now, I'm not going to bother repairing it.

 

Unfortunately that means I need to cash the tax in at the end of the month and, since I have nowhere off road to keep it, it will have to be scrapped.  Seems a bit harsh, but aside from the suspension ailments it also has accident damage to the offside on account of a hit-and-run sideswipe earlier in the year.

 

In my view it's well worth repairing, I just don't have the means to do it right now.

 

If anyone on here wants it, I would take £100, provided of course it gets a new lease of life and isn't driven straight to the bridge.  I could do that myself.

 

A few photos.  These are old, but you get the idea.

 

Pre-accident damage:

 

The front bumper is displaced on account of an altercation with the Armco at the Nuerburgring.  I'll include a second hand front bumper carrier that should straighten things out:

 

The damage to the offside.  I sourced a front door in the correct colour, but I hit a snag when trying to fit it in that the wiring loom seems to be different.  I've not had chance to investigate further.  The spare door is included.

 

Strong engine and gearbox.  1.9l Turbo good for 200bhp.  Bit of a Q-car really.

Not at all messed about with like many you'll find.

Odo shows about 148,000 miles.

Frequent oil changes in my ownership and lots of receipts dating back to when it was new.  Not due a service for about 4,000 miles.

Generally tidy interior, although seats are grubby.

Air-con works great.

Electric aerial has broken and needs replacing.

Remote control doesn't work, although the key works the central locking in the drivers door.  I only have one key.

Front tyres are Avon with lots of tread.  Rears will need replacing as they've worn unevenly.

 

If anyone is interested, please let me know in the next day or two, otherwise it'll be scrapped.  I can keep it for a couple of weeks on my Mum's drive while collection is arranged, but not much longer.

 

It will drive, but the garage that had the suspension apart were at pains to tell me it would be unsafe over any great distance as they had to bodge it back together

just to get it rolling.

 

Sorry if this sounds like a bit of an Ebay-Mong style ad "BUY MY CAR OR IT GETS FRAGGED/RACED" etc, but it's got to go one way or another.

Gotta be worth saving. Not my kind of thing but still has its appeal. Rear door on ebay for £25 and trailing arm for £35. WCPGW.

Just remembered, this has around half a tank of Sainsbury's Super unleaded in as well. So the car is only about sixty quid! Be quick before I change my mind!

Hi....

I really don't need anything else to have to fix at the minute.

My driveway is full of V70 goodness and a dead KA.

It's far too cold to be laid on the floor fixing suspension arms.

With all this in mind, considering I'm only in Nuneaton and I've got a spare lock up which is just crying out to be filled with some more Swedish shite (yes, I know it's not really Swedish but it's quickish and understated in looks) then it'd be rude of me not to offer to purchase it.... PM sent
