Old premix

Have 60 litres of Shell V Power, mixed with Yamalube two stroke oil @ 40:1. It is over a year old and is stored in airtight containers.

Reckon a car would run on it? I don't want to throw it out if I can help it, considering how much it cost.

Even though it will have lost a lot of octane by now.

I hear two stroke oil separates after a few months.

I don't want to run it in my petrol car, as it is is KE Jetronic. I can't see it being as much of an issue in an older EFi or carbed engine.

What's the score?

What about throwing in a gallon to a tankful of fresh stuff, I've a big drum of 2 year old stuff that I must do that with, bit tricky though as I run LPG.

I have considered that before, would take an age, but at least it would get used.

I bet it will take you even longer!

Lob it a bit at a time into a Bosch pumped XUD engine car.

Buy a Lambretta.

Give it to me for nothing.

Shake it up perhaps.

Chucking a gallon at a time in a tank full of deseaesul wouldn't hurt would it. On the Freelander 2 forum they all swear by putting 2-stroke oil in to lubricate the pump or something and that's a Mundano 2.2, and a bit of petrol at this time of year might help stop fuel filter clogging.

Hell, bottle it in 500ml's and sell it as diesel additive for a fiver a go on e-bay.

I have used 30:1 (which I keep for the chainsaw) in various petrol cars (pre-catalyst).

It is fine, you will get no smoke as two-stroke oil burns completely. (Two stroke engines make smoke because a fraction of the fuel is unburnt, and this makes the exhaust smokey)

I would use your mix in my own catalyst cars but because I don't KNOW it is OK with a cat I hesitate to recommend it.

Whatever you do with it, shake it first.

I'll give you 35p per litre for it if you're not too far away.

Same with me. I always glug some into the tank at each fill-up to hopefully help preserve the fuel lines and act as a cheap upper-cylinder lubricant. I use 100:1 ratio though, that's what I heard from some German guy as over there they have ultra-dry modern fuels. It's not as bad for us yet with the OMGETHANOLENGINEDEATHKAOS situation.

But yeah, I'd only ever use it on a carb engine with no emissions control too.

I lob all left over 2 bang mix in the M plate Petrol cat'd transit to get me home from racing as I've done with all other cars. Can't tell you if it's a good idea but can say nothing has broken yet...

I'll offer 36p per ltr if your close  :-D

I got a load of 'detrol' which was about 1:10 diesel/petrol. Have used about three jerry cans of it, and even that was fine on 20 year old cars. I'd stick it in, it'll be fine.

There's one or two cans left, and I think they're the ones that have the most diesel in. I remember putting one in my Nippa. It was fine, apart from one moment where it hesitated, and a nice big smoke ring emerged from the back of the car, haha!

Cheers for the suggestions, people.

I am in Sunderland, so not near the two 'bidders', I would imagine.

Might just stick it in me Escort, diluted. Look out for a borkage thread.

Or, take the fuel along to a ghastly retail complex car park at night, along with a nasty and thoroughly unremarkable modern hatchback, its mundanity lessened by the clever addition of some blue lamps and stickers on the doors, pour the fuel down the bulkhead and burn everything in memory of a FICTIONAL CHARACTER because someone who had been employed to pretend to be that non existant non person died. Certainly don't pour any on the kerb for Mr. Mandela.
