pshome Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 First place in the categorie absolute beginners 2013 goes to start no.73, Clemens Luber and Michael Krey with a Talbot Tagora, a seldom seen “old man´s†car. TagoraSX, skattrd, Junkman and 9 others 12
Mr_Bo11ox Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Congrats!!!! Thats well impressive, nice work chaps!!! Showing the world the power of SHITE. Squire_Dawson and Junkman 2
Mr Livered Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I'm well chuffed for the Tagora drivers. Well done chaps! Junkman 1
worldofceri Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 I've marshalled on this event before. It basically involved standing on my own in the middle of nowhere (Wales) with a stopwatch all night, then driving to somewhere in Shropshire and doing the same through the following morning and half the afternoon. I loved it. I'd have done it this year only I had something else on - might have made more of an effort if I'd known I was guaranteed some Tagora action though. I've got some photos from the Throckmorton Challenge that I keep meaning to chuck up. It's another HERO event, but over just one day; based on an old airfield in Worcestershire. Similar sorts of cars competing - a mixture of 'proper' classics and random shite. Squire_Dawson, pshome and Junkman 3
Squire_Dawson Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 I'm a bastard, I know, but I very much enjoyed reading the failure list. My only remorse is that the A35 and Rover didn't finish. You can't beat putting shite through its paces on an endurance run, ten times the more so if it's your daily driver and you're up against retired FTSE-100 CEO's and their kit. I'd do it if I had the cash to spare, for certain. Perhaps we could do an unofficial AS version, where the stages are completed with a pub serving Real Ale and proper grub, and the winner is the person whose car has the least bits fallen off, with second prize for the car burning the least amount of oil. pshome and Junkman 2
HMC Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Well done!!! Nice to think of it upstaging the various unimaginative entries. I would imagine there's no shortage of MGB crews to upset
pshome Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 Ouch! 5:30pm on the M90 near Edinburgh, Team Tagora crashes at 120 km/h into a 50-mtr roll of 5 inch drainage pipe. Almost unable to stear, Clemens manages to slide to a halt on the emergency lane. Half of the shit is stuck under der car and needs to be tedioulsy cut into bits and pieces to get it out.Luckily, a helpful highway patrol comes to rescue, lifts the Tagora up and gets all the crap out from under the car in a few minutes. A close exam shows a shattered fog lamp and a crack in the front grill. No reason to stop... home they drive! I bet my SX that every modern car would have had his plastic front, lights and all shredded into a zillion bits, vital parts in the engine compartment torn apart and absolutely unable to make any further move. Tagora just shrugs and moves on. P.S.before anybody asks... the tube was empty Junkman, Squire_Dawson and Bobthebeard 3
gary_davidson Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 there is a show on right now on motors tv channel (virgin 545) about this, program is called hero cup pshome, just spotted your last post, glad they are all ok after hitting the tube.
pshome Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Alreedy seen this, its on motors TV since a few days. Nice show but Tagora is only briefly to be seen at the start....
gary_davidson Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 it's on a bit later as well, in the background after the XK140 drives off after being interviwed, shame there were no Tagora in action shots. Also there wasn't any footage from the Preston autotest.
