I suspect it's shill bidding that keeps car prices artificially high on Ebay. Whenever I've tried to sell a car on there, I've always been disappointed with the price it fetched, especially compared to the much ropier example that sold a week earlier for 20% more. It's because people like us are honest. That's my theory anyway.

I haven't sold a car on Ebay in a long time, but I was always surprised how much moolah people plunked down for them. Certainly a lot more than I would have paid for those heaps, that's for sure.

Ebay can be very mixed. I was astonished when we sold a Rover 414 bubble for £1100 a few years back - it was a £600 car I thought! Can't say I've had much luck recently though. Location doesn't help.

 

A GSA estate sold for £850 on Car and Classic recently in legal-but-a-few-issues condition. That didn't hang around long, so buyers are out there.
