Apparently, two 1970's American motorcycle cops attended this accident - "Ponch" Poncherello &  "Jon" Baker 

 

 

 

I have series 1 and 2 on DVD and it stands up quite well.

 

I think they filmed a lot of the crashes and whatnot on sections of highway wot were not yet opened.

That is a polo shell, with what looks like old school scirocco tail lights, still not sure about the head lights though. Love the fact it runs a boxer too. Weird as.

Not one single sheetmetal component is interchangeable with the Polo, nor the taillights with the ones from a Scirocco. Those Brasilian VWs are oddly unrelated to anything from Wolfsburg. Even the Brasilian and German Beetles strangely share very few bits. It has to do with Brazilian legislation, which essentially rules, that if you build cars from components designed abroad, even if those parts are made in Brasil under license, you are not eligible for government backed credits. Look at other car makes in Brasil and you will notice that their cars are equally different in every aspect from the originals*.

What the pic failed to show was the group of Harley riders quickly riding away after mistakenly believing the scene was a H-D gathering after one of their group heard a familiar 'potato, potato, potato' noise.
