Aylesford car show, The Autoshite Collection: Good, bad and the WTFuggly

Thanks guys. This was a really good show to attend, lots of motors but packed on a reasonably small field, so plenty of time to see everything and always spotting something I missed when walking another lap.

The clientele was an interesting mix of the standard chatty and eccentric car show weirdos, together with Kents finest sweat pant wearing, energy drinking, 'weld the diff bruv' kind of blokes- mainly in groups of 3 from one beavertail. Luckily the latter spent most time around the fast Fords... not so luckily the former seemed to congregate around my Chevette.

Great stuff, especially that amazing Bagheera !

That V8 trike is clearly the work of a mentalist... It must be a stylish* and efficient way to kill oneself !

I didn't know you'd got the Chevette back on the road, any new photos of it or exciting recommissioning stories to tell?.

Never seen that window winder design before, it's mad!

Just looking at this again (can't stop myself). I suspect the big round boss thing actually turns with the handle - judging by the squashed bit of trim adjacent to the handle? Shame - I thought at first that the boss stayed put while the handle just went round it. Still - it looks great anyway.

Yes, it's been up running and MOT'd for over a month. 2 new sills, various other welding and perishable bits replaced. Full service etc.

Only outstanding issue was the temp gauge constantly pointing towards the red...

Bought a new water pump on eBay & thermostat from motor factors - w'pump came with no gaskets.

Ordered some gaskets - one was incorrect

Made my own gasket - went to fit, both waterpump & thermostat incorrect.

Ordered correct waterpump & thermostat - arrived complete with gaskets.

Flushed out the system, fitted items - gauge still reading too hot.

Removed rad, flushed through, refitted with more new coolant - still the same.

Replaced the temp sendor - still the same.

Tore my hair out - swore a lot

Checked the gauge regulator - the temp reading was faulty.

So it was all ok FROM THE FUCKING START!

Also wipers packed up the morning of the show and the rad cap fell apart in my hand. So basically nothing worse than normal shitter stuff.

Ideally I need rid so I can plow money in other things. I had it on eBay but bidding was disappointing. There's a guy whos interested though, we'll see.

Anyway, this is it...

Love the AA Maestro van! Also liking the trike, yes, I know but what the heck. It looks totally nuts and it appeals.

Bugger, out-amazoned by an Amazon estate.

Lots of interesting cars and things. Cheers.

That Maestro AA van is fucktastic!

What did he do when it broke down, I wonder?

Phoned his pal who came out in this - possibly.
