Cavcraft Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 The good The bad d The fugly Mileage is something I've forgotten. About 126 or 136 thousand I think.

Cavcraft Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Had a nice little job in this today, doing a small house (more like room) move to Liverpool. It's probably bordering on 'Sad Level: Critical' to enjoy running round in an old Transit, but they are great. It did wheeze a bit loaded and going up a hill, but it seemed to hold it's own against a few newer Transits on the motorway, though a couple of Sprinters and a Crafter made me look like I was going backwards. The heater control cable seems to be 'doing a BX' but maybe a bit more use will see it right?I did about 65 miles altogether and the fuel gauge hasn't really moved either. I think I'll keep it a bit longer yet, if I only use it once or twice a month it'll probably earn me a few quid and be very handy.
FredTransit Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Hey Cav if you want an early one then there's a local Haulage company near me with a C reg one in blue. It's stashed in a barn with about fifty or so other commercials and the owner is an enthusiast who has kept trucks he ran from the late 60s and eventually restored them, so whether he will sell it I don't know.where is this? Can you get a number for him? Split_Pin 1
dieselnutjob Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 why do so many of these have the plastic below the headlights missing? warren t claim 1
Cavcraft Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Lol, I was weighing up another one yesterday that had that 'issue'. I think they used recycled Mondeo bumpers to make the clips to hold them in or something. I should really GTFO and 'make' some new arches for it at some point, I used to quite enjoy dabbling with broken number plates, bits of cardboard and fibreglass.
The Moog Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Before I do anything stupid will these run on SVO? moving down to Accrington this week and anything that can reduce costs would be much appreciated. Costco veg is about 80p a litre.
Cavcraft Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 I'm told they can, Will, but never tried it. Possibly best to just stick say 10 or 15 litres in a full tank and see how you get on. The Moog 1
The Moog Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Cheers Billy, will try it and see how I get on
wackywacerwill Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 My old DI would run on a 50/50 mix quite nicely. I can't remember running more than that off hand though am sure it happened once or twice when funds were low. I only ran into problems when running old veg in the colder months, a can of deodorant down the intake would have it running again more often than not. tooSavvy 1
The Moog Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Cool cheers. I think I will stick to 75/25 mix at most. Xantia is running 20/80 and had no problems starting that from cold.
wackywacerwill Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Sounds wise. Gone are the days of 20 LTRS for a tenner down the local cash and carry, sadder still is that the same can be said for the old DI down here.
The Moog Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 costco is £16 for 20 litres. That plus big watering can means 50p ish saving per litre, not to be sniffed at. Cavcraft 1

Costco veg is about 80p a litre.I HAVE tried it. check what injector pump you have, if its a lucas DO NOT use veg in ANY ratio. they won't tolerate it and will go fubar very quickly.
