I would rather drive an ex-Savile car that hadn't been valeted.

I don't see it as an investment opportunity anyway, If anybody was willing to pay more for it they would have done so. When people relist cars on eBay they always make less because they are minus the original winning bidder, I can't see why this would be different.

You may well be right... If my history of buying cars is anything to go on!

The twuntishness referred to is that which afflicts a society obsessed with celebrity and with status acquired through birth.

I find it quite bizarre that  on  a forum called Autoshite nearly a page has been taken over in arguing whether someone was royal or posh or both or even neither   It's not even as if we were trying to determine whether a Talbot Horizon was posher than a Chrysler Horizon because the dosh for the original Talbot company was put up by the 20th Earl of Shrewsbury

Agreed.... But if you were a car dealer, and bought the Audi to sell on at a profit, and managed to do so, would you care? Suspect not!

Presumably this is the point of buying the car in the first place?

I can't be arsed with celebrities myself, royal or otherwise.

That Ordi is worth £1,500 tops. But if someone's prepared to pay an extra £30,000+ because someone once drove it, good luck to them. There are probably plenty of other fools they can sell it on to.

Yeah, but the whole concept of inherited status is so nutso anyway that quibbling about whether or not someone is a proper Royal is like quibbling about whether Mickey Mouse is more realistic than Bugs Bunny.

You seem to have spent fucking hours arguing about just that (royalty) on this very thread.  What a complete crock of bollocks, 0/several million.

Bugs bunny is clearly more realistic anyway, thats a non-argument

It's a discussion...... About an old car! This is a forum for old cars right?

If people stop discussing stuff what is left?

Diana Spencer as was did have a taste for German motors, am surprised no one has resurrected the V reg mk1 Golf (her first car) that she wrapped round a lamp post in Knightsbridge whilst (allegedly) pissed out of her teenage brain,

Come to think of it that Golf would have been scrapped along with any embarrassing court appearances whilst she was just an over privileged Sloane ranger as opposed the the queen of hearts so would have attracted no attention or speculative venture capital whatsoever.

ps, MI5 were behind her "accidental death" because she was pregnant with Dodi's triplets who would have all been next in line to the throne because Mohammed al Fayed told me so and it must be true!!

This did start off as a thread about an old car, remember.

TBH I have seen far worse threads on AS so I think people should maybe chill out a little bit.

Relax, bloke, it's just some blah on the internet.  If if upsets you to learn that there are people who think differently to you, just close you eyes before you read stuff, and all shall be well.
