I can't remember if MikeKnight has a Fulvia or a Flavia, he might be working on both... what I mean to say, is I'll get him to stick his head in here and talk about water soluble Italian cars since that seems to be what he's working on lately.

As said Mr Imp & Volksy have a Fulvia which is in in regular use, a bit crusty in places, but a cracking little V4 motor.

As expected with Italian cars over 20yrs old rust is the main problem, so buy on condition.

Are you sure you don't want a beta spider? I've got one with long MOT that can be had cheap(ish).

Saloon or Coupe? I had a 67 Saloon for a while, which now lives in Ireland. Brilliant car, amazing handling and very modern feeling for a car that was launched in 1963. The V4 engine is a gem and they have disc brakes all round. Like most old Lancias they're over-engineered but you can do most of the mechanical work on them as the specialist tools you might need are available to hire from the Lancia Motor Club.

I thought of mine as being a big Mini in lots of ways, handling and where to look for rot in particular. I was told that if can find cracks running vertically from the top of the front wheelarch, you've got crumbly subframe mounts.

They do go round corners well, here's my old 2C in the hands of its previous owner:
