OMG, Gendarmes is coming.

wow that TX is lush.. shame i got my 5 up for sale, looks great in gold

Early 5's, like the two red ones above, are the bollocks. Such a clean design, so much better than a Mk1 Golf looks wise.

Right then. Made the journey down to Retro Rides this weekend - 500 miles in R4 van in 2 days without a problem. Should have camped though. We stayed in a local pub (The Sparkford Inn) which was mega shit. Ho Hum :D . Still, it was a superb event, plenty of stuff to wander around, track action was pretty good and the museums not bad either. Pictures be here -

Samba Rallye was lovely, only spoilt by plates really

Dumped around the back, Haynes Maestro shite. Tax disc said last on the road in 2000 and it was pretty rotten. Strangely it was fitted with two steering wheels. Wonder why?

What is clever is that you also managed to get a reflection of a Sapporo beer can from a Sapporo wheel :)

Last couple from me as RRG appears fairly well covered around here!

At the back of the museum, next to the Maestro (above) and abandoned Haynes camper thing, lies this small collection of slowly rusting tat. All off the road 2 / 3 years at least.

Yup, my jaw did actually drop a bit when that came past. Sadly, I was working (or hooning...) so I got very few pics.

Posted Image

Theres a couple of houses just outside Leicester with loads of Saabs outside - here a poor shot taken whilst driving past

Posted Image

Finally for now, future shite. 206 van, poundland wheeltrims, multicoloured panels and missing trim FTW!

Whilst we were there, there was a large car show / autojumble at Manoir de L'Automobile in Brittany, went along to rummage for old Renault bits of which there was much.

Was also a lot of cars -

Posted Image

And then there was the stuff in the museum but you'll have to wait for that!

Jesus! Just imagine how many times that thing would roll over if you flipped it at high speed :D

Time for a belated update. First few tonight, rest tomorrow!

Posted Image

Sierra was sat around the back of a big Ford dealer. Tax ran out in '97 IIRC. Looked pretty tidy considering. Also had a Sapphire Cosworth for company on which tax expired in July 09 and accident damaged Mk2 Golf with sexy BBS rimz. Sadly my camera phone decided it didn't want to save those pics

Posted Image

Same garage had Rover 200 and Focus. Focus appeared to be being used as parts donor - airbags, front wing and bumper already removed. Rover had been sat a year or two as well.

Posted Image

Big old bus lumbering its way through endless M6 roadworks...

Posted Image

Had cause to be down in Monmouth a few weeks back. Spied this 500 illegally parked in a back street.

MOAR L8R.

Love the bus.... 8) I lived in Bamber bridge whilst working on the M6 junction 32 bit.....ages ago.....it was a dump :)

Righto, continuing with the update -

Went to Beaulieu last week as we were in the area. Nice to see there is a bit of new stuff. They now have the World Of Top Gear which comprises the Top Gear Dome although I couldn't be arsed waiting to see what was inside that and a tent with a few of the challenge cars in. Bit half arsed but better than nothing.

Not seen this before - recreation of old garage was pretty damn good. Full of old 'stuff' everywhere just like it should be.

Saving the best til last, tidy Metro in the rain in Weymouth

Nice , I went to Beauleau last year and saw that 2CV, I couldn't get over how clean it was, That Top Gear tent wasn't finished though so i didn't see of them.I am going back in May for the weekend to the autojumble again so I'll see it then.

Show season started this weekend. As every year we had a stand at Ultimate Dubs which as the name suggests is full of 'dubs', some of which may be considered to be 'ultimate'. As you'd imagine there is plenty of floppy hair, baggy pants and stretched tyres but amongst all that there is some good stuff to be found.

Plenty of this type of thing -

Posted Image

but enough of that.

Plenty of Sciroccos on show -

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Not sure if this is some new sort of scene mod, smashed windscreen look or something or whether it happened on the way to the show...

Posted Image

After seeing rows and rows of lowered cars, something with standard rideheight looked a bit odd

Posted Image

Posted

now really miffed i just sold my scirocco, great pics lobsta

Some nice Golfs though...

Posted Image

Took a wrong turning in Ainsdale and came across this. Thats fate that is

Posted Image

Been down south today. Didn't manage to get a picture of the Borgward Isabella Combi parked up in Aldershot or a load of US Ford pick ups but did get these two

Job done.
