The US-spec Audi 100 (5000?) on a Q-plate is IMPROBABLY COOL. But I am drawn to the Rover 200 on Revolution 5-spokes as well.

There was some very nice stuff there, will add a couple of my piccies when I get around to it but highlights for me had to be A plate Prelude, proper shitey condition XR3 and Renner 9 Turbo.

Bugger. You wait ages for one R4 van and then two turn up! Thought I would be unique such is the rarity of R4 vans so imagine my surprise when we found a twin!

Also went to Tatton Park Classic Car Show on the Saturday. Which was rubbish to be fair and way too expensive to get in but what else should I expect, wasn't much there of great Autoshite interest though these ticked a few boxes...

Something quite wrong about this. You know they just wanted to weld up the doors, paint a confederate flag on the roof and shout YEEE HAAA but probably didn't 'cos that sort of behaviour doesn't go down that well in Knutsford.

OOF! I had a Prelude the spit of that, it was a GR8 car.

Posted

Those Preludes do look GR8, but do they have the same fingertip-light PAS as other '80s Hondas?

I don't recall it as finger-tip light - certainly it was meatier than the G-reg Bluebird I owned prior to it. Not that that is saying much - you could sneeze and put a Bluey onto the other side of a central reservation, no bother.

My memories are of a fantastic revvy twin-carb motor, sweet 5-speed gearbox, and crazy push-button controls for the heater. Plus a sunroof that slid but didn't tilt. And you can sleep in the boot if you are drunk enough.

I traded mine in on a 2-year old Civic in 2000, it's probably long since become landfill now, more's the pity. It wasn't even rusty round the sunroof and rear arches like most of them were/are.

This photo was taken the day I traded it in - the crap quality due to those pre-digital camera times. Started my appreciation of Hondas, I've had 4 now including my wife's.

Putting my Honda anorak on, the alloys on mine are the correct ones; the car above has 2.0i-16 rims. I'd love a 2.0i-16 one day.

EDIT: I was greatly amused by the "Mr Tourette" signwriting on one of those R4 F6s.

I razzed about in an '88 Civic for a while and it was great fun apart from the overly light steering. I guess the Prelude being a 'sporty' model got a weightier set-up.

I whizzed in to RR08 briefly on Sunday. Absolutely splendid. Even the Mrs was impressed by some of it. Had I known so many of us were there -we could have met up -exchanged insults etc. Mmaybe next year

Did you get a shot of the Simca's best end? I can't honestly say I've ever knowingly clapped eyes on an estate before.

Regretably I did not.
