"1992 W124 200TE (estate model) Long tax and test, 7 seat option. Few previous owners. Lots of history/ bills. Recent service.

The car is in good overall condition. finished in pearl blue metallic, specified with alloy wheels, 4x electric windows, electic tilt and slide sunroof, automatic gearbox and the practical 7 seat option. Original purchase invoice for 25,000 in september 1992.

Driving well, good oil pressure, keeps to temperature in traffic, autobox smooth shifting. Strong brakes. Slight whine from the diff if you know what your listening for.

Interior good, wear to the drivers seat side bolster, everything works- sunroof, windows, heating and ventillation controls, boot soft close, all warning lights go out etc.

Body good overall. Has obviously been garaged for most of its life as the paint finish is excellent, looks to be all original factory paint with no laquer issues, very few scratches or scuffs for a car of its age and rubbers/ plastics good. The front and rear arches have bubbling/rust in a couple of spots, typical of the model (see pictures) and theres are some small bubbles on the tailgate.

A decent, unabused, mechanically sound car that will drive anywhere

Viewing welcome"

Ive got it at 550 or near offer. mot to jan 2014 and tax to sept

Blimey that is tempting, and just up the road from me. What sort of mileage do you get round town?

I tend to get 25-28 round the houses. Thats fairly short stop start and short trips. i got 37mpg on a longer journey cruising on a roads last month

Are you around for a viewing Friday evening or the weekend?

Decent 124s are rare, a few petrol engined ones have been snapped up for their parts. Rear hub bearings for example are a sod to press out without the uber-special tool, so most simply fit another hub.

I've just bought my first manual 124, a 5 pot one. They're increasingly brilliant cars. For £550 that looks good value, should think it will sell.

That is a thing of beauty that I would love to own whilst the Safari is having a bit of cosmetic surgery. Just the sort of price I would be happy to pay for a reliable big estate as well. If only it were not on the other side of the country. :(
