John F Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Hey all Does anyone have a Vauxhall bonnet badge that will fit my Calibra? Some bastard has stolen mine. It looks like this: I just need the badge bit that sits in the middle, the badge holder is still in place. The complete badge plus holder would also be great. The badge diameter is approx. 72 mm (entire unit is about 77 mm), Vauxhall no longer keep it in stock. Ta for helps
eddyramrod Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 That's a bummer! You have my sympathy, FWIW, but I'm afraid I don't have a badge for you.
skattrd Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 There are some damned weird people out there ... who would want/steal a Vauxhall badge? Were you parked near a lunatic asylum at the time?
John F Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Hehe, yep - there are some strange people out there. Anyway, I've sorted it. A trip to the local breakers provided me with the V-grille badge from an Astra for two quids (bit pricey I suppose but I couldn't be arsed haggling)... dropped it in boiling water & I could separate the badge from its (different shaped) holder, now stuck on with silicon sealant
Partridge Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I don’t have any badges, but will I Cavalier/Astra one fit it? Just a thought.
Station Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Astra and cav ones will fit. Even a 2013 Insignia badge will go on. Also Chevrolet and Holden. Thank the GM bean counters!
simmo Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Pretty sure this is off a Calibra J-Regish, it's not in great nick but if you want it PM me and I'll sick it in the postfor you. Rgds Lee
John F Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 Ta for the offer of help lads, I managed to sort it with a modified Astra badge. GDH: it failed the MoT on wiper blades and yet ANOTHER fuel leak (after I mended two earlier this week, ffs!) so I bunged on a new set of wiper blades and replaced both the feed & return fuel pipes from the engine bay all the way to the pump/tank in plastic-coated copper. Should be good for a few years now. Re-test is at 9am (-ish).
