Ok so this is the next one out of the door,

It's done 85k but no history, it has had a cambelt (non OE one fitted) and I have rebuilt all the brakes with new rear cylinders too, mot until Feb 2014, 5 months tax, world's most annoying cd player.

I love driving this van, it's simple, economical & fugly, but the fleet is more than I can afford to service, and this one is the easiest to let go.

I'm potentially interested - could be just what I'm looking for. But getting to Spilsby could be quite a stumbling block.

If I was to commit to buy, would there be any possibility of meeting up in Grantham? Or somewhere else a bit more readily accessible by public transport from Landaaan?

1868cc diesel.

Yes it is diesel, but I don't know if it is veg friendly as it's got the newer Berlingo spec engine in, the DW8.

Edit: Wilko the nearest station to me is either Lincoln or Boston if that helps any, where are you coming from?

Posted

I've got a DW8 in my 306, it does run on it but it isn't as happy doing so as an XUD. Obv. you'd need to check what pump it has first.

What are these like as tow vans - any idea what they can lug?

Also, do you know what the height of the cargo space is? I think the payload is 650kg.

We are looking for a light van for the business, I have no interest in a new one as the stuff we mess about with eats vehicles and is hard on the engines (gets into the air filters). If it is tall enough then we can fit a machine in the back and if it can tow 1500kg then we can pull a reasonably sized compressor.

XUDs are the biz, always tempting to bung a turbo charger and ECU on it from a scrap Pugroen!

You'd just blow it to bits in a short time if you did that. May as well do it properly and lob a 1.9TD engine in from a Xantia or something, assuming it'll fit.

These things weigh absoutely nowt, if you start dragging 1500kg around with one you'll have a 'tail wagging the dog' situation on the first downhill you come to

I have seen one with a 1.9td crammed in, but I wouldn't have thought towing 1500kgs is going to be a good idea.

Hey RG. I live in St Albans but anywhere that has a direct connection to London is ok. Pretty sure Lincoln would work for me, as I think i can get a train there from Kings Cross.

Will check situation and drop you a PM later, assuming I don't get beaten to it in the meantime!

Wilko, if you got the bus to Stansted Airport, I could come an fetch you, run you to Lincolnshire and so on if it works out cheaper than the train???

Thanks Ben -that's very kind of you. I'll do a bit of research and see what works out best.
