I'd prefer TV2 to be red, blue or dark green, as opposed to the weird silver/pewter colour it's painted, but when I chanced upon it in April 2009, it was in the right condition and was on sale at the right price. At least The Volvo is painted in a far more interesting colour

Actual progress. As suspected, there's a cable fault between the heater controls and the flap that allows air into the car. I haven't cured the problem, but it only took a few minutes to remove the scuttle panel, unbolt the heater blower and check the flap - which was of course shut. I've pushed it open and refitted the blower, so now I have air coming in. Permanently. I can control the heat output, so this shouldn't be an issue.

 

Also booked it in for wheel bearing replacement as I'm ill, incredibly busy and lazy. That should be happening on Thursday if the bearing turns up.
