Hi there

Introduced to this forum through another member (don't know his username on this forum!). Long time fan of rusty heaps and unusual designs from the past - mainly French but the odd Longbridge monstrosity catches my eye.

I've not owned anything that could be classed as TRUE autoshite but heres a few from my car history.

1988 Honda Accord Aerodeck, 2 litre carb version (manual) (£175)

1989 Peugeot 205 XS which was in a lot worse condition than it looks! (£120)

The infamous 1 pence car! 1992 Primera 2.0 16v where only 1st to 4th gear worked!

Look forward to talking to more autoshite fans.

1p for a Primera? Bargain! I've heard losing 5th is quite common and a relatively easy fix...That steam coming from the front of the 205?

The primera needed some welding and the previous owner couldn't be bothered due to the knackered 5th gear! I got it botched up (needed a caliper too) and gave it a few more months on the road! How do you go about fixing the gearbox?Aye that is steam coming out the 205 - i'd just hosed down the carb manifold and oily head :D

I think most of us would regard an '88 Aerodeck as true autoshite. I once owned a '99 Primera turbo diesel with no 5th gear. It would still engage 5th on the overrun but as soon as any power was applied it would pop out and no amount of heaving on the gear lever would persuade it back in. I paid substantially more than 1p for it too...Welcome to the forum, anyway.

Welcome along Mr. B. The Primera was quite a machine with its 'sporty' close-ratio 4-speed 'box.

:D It was a bit of an odd one, lightest steering of any car and plenty of gadgets for an old heap! Don't see many on the road any more - rotboxes!Milford cubicle - 'twas indeed - might have kept it if the fuel economy was even half of the old faithful 406.
