Meriva Headlight Issues

This morning I got told we couldn't take the zx out as stuff wouldn't fit in.

We are now in Peterborough, with the Merv abandoned at the hotel as both dipped headlights have gone.

Its too dark to start pulling fuses and bulbs, but does anyone have any ideas on the cause? Both dipped beams have broken, full beam, sides etc all work.

Hoping its just both bulbs blown, but I'm a long way from home to start getting expensive!

just out of curiosity, why would no dipped beams stop you from returning to base?

Because its dark, and its either high beams or sidelights. I know most taxi drivers do it, but I'd rather not meet cambs plod tonight! Luckily we are staying over so can look tomorrow, and we can drive in the daylight if need be

Does it have adjustable beams for heavy loads/towing? I'd point the high beams down and go for it.

I saw someone in a similar situation driving along a very dark A9 with hazard lights and sidelights, flashing the high beams when there was no traffic. Not ideal.

My mum's 54 Zafira had exactly the same problem. The dipped beam filaments on both headlight bulbs had blown. I reckon she'd been driving it around with one headlight for ages because once they were changed she commented that they seemed much brighter than they'd ever done before.

Just v bad luck I'm afraid.

I always replace dipped beams in pairs because usually when one side goes then the other goes a week later!

Fixed! Both bulbs had grenaded themselves. 2 new bulbs later, and removing the air intake and battery we can see in the dark again!
