RedSparrow Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Interesting. I know there are still a fair few BMW era Rovers in Germany, I recall reading that they were flogged from some BMW dealerships over sausage-side.
HillmanImp Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Why has someone surrounded the Metro with scotch pancakes? Foreigners are odd.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 Well I went and had a look at this thing this morning. It did have a single 'mk1' headight on the passenger side, so i took it off, only to find one of the mounting studs smashed out the back of the casing, fuggin brilliant eh? I took the cyliinder head off anyway, using only 13 and 14mm spanners, a stanley knife and a pair of pliers! Some clever twit had replaced the head gasket in the past, using a 1275cc one (check the bore sizes on the gasket!) At least its defo an unleaded head so maybe a mini dweeb will give us a couple of groat for it & the carb. I took the dizzy out thinking it would be a contactless one as fitted to A-series Maestros from about 1983 - to my surprise it was a wanky points-type one, what a shower of shit. So as to make something useful out of this thread lets have a couple of Xmas spots instead from the beautiful medieval town of Loches. A beautiful 104 on market day, sadly not the small-bootlid job but still worth a quick wrestle of the old bald-headed champ surely. this 205 was covered in mildew, and had the classic 'Energie nucleaire?? non merci!!' sticker! It also had ripped seats, no doortrims, and the keys left in the ignition. This 2cv had a set of painted-on non-rusty bullet holes. I looked around for Roger Moore but he was probably holed up in his tax exile home of Switzerland. Fantastic GS X2 doing daily duties, had 'RACING' seat covers. Wow thats pretty sweet innit. Long-distance spot of a Mk2 passat festering at the local Opel dealer Not a speck of grot on this escort Ghia lastly this 'ESCORT 1.1', I thought this would be super basic but it had tinted glass and a 5-spd gearknob so what do I know? I have driven one of these and know not to listen to the voices, they are fuggin SHIT.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Fantastic GS X2 doing daily duties, had 'RACING' seat covers. Wow thats pretty sweet innit. Stunning GS- a hint of forthcoming GSA plastic murder but still a proud chariot. And whilst I despise 2CV's, the grey one is lovely. I recall seeing loads of these buggers and Ami6's during the seventies.
Micrashed Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 D'ye think someone has already been at the donkey in that Metro and swapped it for a 998?
M'coli Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Top spotting!Long-distance spot of a Mk2 passat festering at the local Opel dealer.It's even better than that, it's a mk1!

The Reverend Bluejeans Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 lastly this 'ESCORT 1.1', I thought this would be super basic but it had tinted glass and a 5-spd gearknob. It's the limited edition Laseur model.
