BMW E30 - Built for the Mentalist - FS £700 anyone?

Anyone fancy buying this for £700?

Good bits are it's now got MoT until December 2013, bit of tax (end March) and starter motor now fixed as it was buggered. Sounds great and is good for YO! DRIFTWERKING.

Bad bits - a 'shhhh' noise from the diff (pretty sure it's that and not a bearing), heater blower works intermittently on 1 and 2 but is constant on 3 or 4, and three times in the last four months it has hesitated under acceleration. I thought I'd fixed it by replacing a pipe but must have a vacuum leak somewhere/air flow meter sticking or some such, but as it's so infrequent I haven't looked into it further. Idle is also a touch wavy sometimes, but it's perfectly useable as is. Rusty sunroof, roof is fine though, arches all good, a few scabs on the door bottoms, and one bit of rust in the scuttle area, and a couple of deep scratches on the bonnet. And dashboard has cracks in it.

After saying all that I make it sound like a shitbox, but it’s actually a nice, presentable car and useable as is. My intention was to spend getting the few bits of bodywork sorted and the diff done at some point, but not sure I like it enough to keep it long term. Want more shite instead :D

I mentioned this to a mate who might be interested in it. What sort of MPG does it give you?

30ish on a run and probably low 20s around town, so it does like a drink. Fuel is so stupidly espensive these days I've given up trying to work out more accurate figures!

I shall be letting him know, but I think he'll be put off by that. I had told him 'can't be too bad- it's a very light car'.

No probs, but to be expected really as it has six cylinders to feed.

I'm off to the Newbury Classic & Autojumble tomorrow so will bung a For Sale sign on it there.

Before I run the gauntlet of advertising this to Mong Public, does anyone fancy it for £650? I've just taxed it for another six months and MoTd until December. As mentioned in News 24, it has a very infrequent misfire (done it three times in the last 6 months) and garage says it's not a vacuum leak, so probably fuel? Either way it's driving fine at the moment, but I'm feeling the need for another Rover so this has to go.

Is it that white Estate in Crystal Palace that was for sale a while back? Either way, lob a picture up Andy (if not done so already) :)

Sorry ruffgeezer, AX sounds tempting but I'm fixated on getting a Rover this time!

What a pleasant car, especially as it originally hails from the place of my birth :D

Ah that one. I was tempted by it myself but need to shift this bugger before buying another.

Hi Rob,

Is your 325 still available?

Certainly is, do you want it? Took it for a spin this evening and it's driving bloody lovely!

I'm in the Saarf East, Beckenham, which is not far from Crystal Palace. Drop me a pm if you'd like to pop around for a look, cheers.

Here's a few pics of it looking clean
