Futureshite - 2012 Ford Taurus

Well my latest conveyance is this Ford Taurus.

 

It's not a bad old bus but acceleration takes an age to hit the "power band" and it's FWD so pretty much torque steer here we come.

 

Interior looks pretty classy but instrumentations just baffles the crap out of me...this is a car you really need to study to understand how to do the simplest things...not a good idea when jet lagged after a 14 hour flight in the evening...

Verdict:

Quite butch looking. Looks more substantial than it really is. Loads of room - getting 21MPG Ave so far - pretty shite really these days.

 

Suspension feels cheap - preferred the Chrysler 300 overall to be fair!

It's probably quite good. A Friend has a 2008 Lincoln of this size and it's a pretty good car.

I have to have a quiet laugh at the thought of Chinese directed racism.

 

I used to go out for a "Chinky" back in the day (meaning a Chinese meal - no disrespect intended whatsoever). At the time I had a few Scots-Chinese friends and happened to mention to my friend Sheila about going out for a "Chinky" one night. She looked at me and said, "that's not nice to say that Gavin!" I said what do you mean - a "Chinky is a Chinese meal? "Well we don't like that, because it's racist!' I explained I'd guess If I was referrng to a person it might be but surely not to a meal..but anyway from that point on decided to refer to a "Chinky" as a Chinese meal.

 

A couple of years later, working in Hong Kong, I'm always generally referred to as "Gweilo" the literal translation means "Ghost Man" but the actual meaning is "Foreign Devil". This word is basically used to describe white foreign males, "Gwei-moi" is the term used for a white female foreigner. If you were black you'd be a "Hack-Gwei" (Black Ghost/Devil) etc. Basically, racist terms are the norm over that way.

 

I brought this matter up to my good friend Sheila and she simply dismissed the word as meaning "Foreigner". I said, that's fucking bullshit and you know it...you got bent out of shape for me calling a Chinese meal a "Chinky"

 

Funny how these terms tend to be a one way street

Nah. Whatever looks like this can't be good. It can be marginally better or worse than other shite, but good is different.
