Saab solution?

I took the 9-3 (1.9 vector 150) to an indie specialist today for a service and a look at the heater fan motor/resistor pack. They rang me up a couple of hours later. It was not looking good.

Front o/s lower balljoint knackered, new arm needed.

Split CV boot, driveshaft needs to come out.

Rear pads worn and calipers sticky.

Two tyres with gashes in them, a third near the limit. (which I knew about)

Front exhaust flexi hose shot.

Noisy clutch (I've lived with this) DMF, £1200 to fix

Due a cambelt/water pump

Still needs a service

Fan motor & resistor pack fried.

Split manifold and swirl valves stuck. Smokes like a train when it's started.

The MOT is due in January.

They advised me to get rid rather than spend £££ fixing it up. So a couple of second hand tyres later it's back home.

It does seem crazy that an 8/9 year old car should now be worth f*** all. It's done 131,000 miles but still drives well (was doing 95 on my private track on the way there) and does 50 mpg. I am used to knackered cars being, well, knackered ... obviously tyres, exhaust etc will wear out but it all adds to the overall massive cost of sorting it out.

So my initial thoughts are:

1) chop it in as a p/ex, or

2) sell it on as spares/repair.

As for first option, I've got hardly any money to pay dealers' prices. Selling it on will more than likely involve dealing with morons on ebay/local press etc.

Mrs P suggested scrapping it...

I'd do the urgent MOT stuff and live with the rest.

I'd get someone with CAP to see what it'll make round the block, if it seems a reasonable price then use that as a reserve and offload it that way.
