Reims Scrapbook (PICS M8)

Here's a few snaps from my holiday in France. I took in the LMC, Reims, Brussels, Brussels Autoworld and Brooklands when back in Blighty. I also dropped 25V6Turbo's Artcurial brochure off, saw a mate from University who lived in Chertsey and picked up a load liner for my 460 from Oxford.

Tonight, I've got a few shots from my Reims directory. Who else has pictures from Reims? It's semi derelict and - dare I say it - more interesting than the LMC, other than the Artcurial Heuliez auction, of course.

Journey there - like something out of a 70's Citroen brochure.

View from the fenced off driver's paddock top deck. The benefits of taking a full toolkit on holiday.....

Inside the grandstand on the main deck.

A Mercedes race truck was in attendance at the same time I was - shooting for some factory publicity. In Pete-M's words, it was bull buggeringly mint.

After 3 hours poking around and taking pictures from every conceivable angle, I collapsed in the poppy field out the back, reading Jean Albert Gregoire's Best Wheel Forward. for an hour or so. The poppy fields went on into the distance and were utterly beautiful.

I managed to snag a real 1966 Reims poster on eBay shortly after I came back - they were going for telephone number amounts of Euro on the LMC autojumble......

Aye, I got loads from before it was restored, well, tarted up really. About 2007 I think.

Oh the Merc lorry is from their "Race Department" going on the sign writing.

:D

I require them to view, please. The knackered 'Total' grandstand looked incredible.

No worries, I got the fuel tower with lap counter, Press bit etc.

Errrr une probleme I haven't got a clue how to post on here/have not the slightest interest! PM me your email and I'll ping em over in a mo.

EDIT: Being technically retarded til a year ago these are proper photos I've just realised. I know the colour album they're in and that I've got pics of the old marque painting on the pit walls like CZ and the like just need to find it. ( Just read that back, I sound like I'm 68 or 78 but I'm 38!! Ha ha)

I was there in '08 and here are a few pics not very good quality. I do prefer the unrestored side of the road. A great place

Great photos monsieur watanabe! That treelined road looks so inviting (and potentially lethal)...

I love this place. went in August 2011 on way home from holiday in South of France. My Satnav is so far out of date that it was a bit of a ballsache to find with all new motorways all around etc etc etc

Some splendid pics here folks. Nothing better than finding an old and faded bit of motorsport history.

Thanks!

That looks suspiciously like a pool of coolant under the range rover!

Anorak mode- thats quite a late non soft dash range rover there, what a lovely vehicle to take on a tour like that

I think I prefer the look from '93 before they restored it, but I suppose if they had left it like that it would of been pulled down by now. Well worth a visit even though it is a bit tricky to find with the sat nav.

It was coolant. Rad was leaking quite badly and Being a convenient stop point i flipped the expansion tank lid to top it up. Naturally it pushed a couple of pints out. Topped it up and hauled arse back to Calais. It had been to south of France and back like that and made it home with no ill effects.

Had rad recorded by Boston rads and it is fab again.

Yep it is quite a late hard dash, yep I love it and really enjoyed leaving mrs the stags Citroen c4 grand Picasso with suspect turbo at home to haul an 18 year old range rover loaded with wife and 3 kids plus bikes et al to argues mort and back.

Re finding Reim Gueux leave the sat nav at home, after circling around and "recalculating" for 20 mins I switched it off. Headed for Reims Sud I found a KFC. And just after that the start straight was left at the next roundabout north. Could I find I again. Probably. Tbh I fell upon the place but was bloody pleased to have done so. Mrs the stag was less impressed. I showed the boys YouTube vids and they were all "wow"

I have more pics at home i'll dig em out later this week.

Lovely photos wat, re the Mercedes race truck picture. Unless you uploaded that picture to Flickr a couple of months ago I have an identical one somewhere on my hard drive duly nicked from flickr that is presumably the real deal from way back when.

Unless someone has nicked it and boshed it on flickr without me knowing - no, it wasn't me. It's been on Facebork a few times, and I uploaded it to DeviantArt. Can you find me the link? I have a flickr account, and if someone has nicked it, I want a word with them.

I have some more of it but I'm saving them for something else.
