The GTI estates had a 5 speed manual box or an auto. They differed from the saloons in having 14" wheels and drum brakes on the rear. A close relation was the GTD Turbo which had identical spec but was only available as an auto (although I think the saloons could have a manual box).

UPDATE!!

Sorry ive not had time to post up lately so heres a nice big update for you ..............

This little beauty bought a trailer off us for a charity run to Switerland!!

+1 agreedmy dad had a 505 GTI and a CX GTI both estates great big buses, but then again at 7 years old the back of a mini is roomy lol

Mates old MK1 Jetta 1300 on twin 40s

Seen the same modifications on a "caddy" one of these in Telford recently, though couldnt get a piccy as I was driving behind it.

Must be a special kinda Halfords- there's a branch close to where I work, and there's never anything like that in the car park!! The spotty oiks who work there have probably never even seen anything like most of those.

I was stuck for something to do the other night so I decided to lob a new cambelt on my Volvo. Went to Halfords as it was 7pm and everywhere else was shut.'Got a cam belt for a Volvo 240?''NAH......but....... actually i'll just check though cos you never know....... Oh heres one! Ã‚Â£10.49'Superb! My Volvo is loving it.
