Thought some of you might find this quite interesting, one of the first contemporary road tests of the then new Austin 2200 against the best of what those Commie eye-ties and weirdo nude-sauna loving Swedes could come up with.

What one would you pick out of that lot? :D

Saab for sure. But I'll need to buy some lurid turtle-necks, jumbo cords and Hush Puppies. And have the house redecorated to resemble a Habitat showroom.

Not that I'd find that a hardship y'understand...

The Beta sounds like the most accomplished of the trio. The Saab only beats it on things like crash protection. The only thing in favour of the Austin is that it's proper shite.

Green Jade Necklace provides the icon of long-lasting protection, making it an amulet of protection. Jade can be used to carry cash into your life by developing a good mind-set. It provides experience and wiseness for the seniors, provides recognition to the family, Chinese Jade Bracelet protects the individual and makes way for more prizes in future.

What the fucking fuck?

Never seen one of these mid-thread before.

Anyway. I'd have the Austin. Because I'm wrong in the head. Or, better still, the Saab but with the E6 lump.

The Austin 2200 without even a second thought. Wedge styling, Hydragas and a transverse straight six - plus the 240 positions of course. Just a smooth, pleasant plodder that's probably a lot better than you'd think.

I had a Beta once and thought it was sort of alright. Never found the Italian brio however, just a heavy FWD saloon with a droning old four pot engine and a nasty dash. Never driven a Saab 99.

I'd have gone for the Austin without hesitation in 1975. In 2012, however, the Saab gets my vote

The Princess due to it's unmistakeably 70s styling, with the Beta a very close 2nd.
