meggersdog Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I have been tasked to sell this :It appears to be in fine fettle, although a shallow dent in the rear door both wheel arches look solidThere is a tiny dent at the side of the tailgate tooThere is little history (service stamps to 74k) but it is showing 109k and has only done two thousand miles since the last MOT.Now the owner would like £350.00 but with only a month's tax and an MOT until 26 October I think to stand any chance of sellingit will need a full test.Last year's advisories were ignored so it's going to need the front tyres changing before a new ticket. So is a Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS 8 valve with five owners worth getting saleable or sent over the bridge ?
cms206 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I paid £150 for the Garbaldy 1.8i Classic on an N-reg in a similar colour with less owners. It had about six weeks test and a fortnight's tax on it. It sold for £275 so with a test it'd probably get £350. Without it's worth it's weight over the bridge, and sadly I have no coins to save it from such a fate just now.
trigger Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Got to be worth £300 as if and £400+ with rent all day long, it's no real shitter is it.
meggersdog Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 It's a tough call which is why I asked for opinions. On one hand it's just an old Cavalier that are worth buttons. On the other, for it's age, it does seem in good nick.I've no real need for it myself but don't want to spend time and money getting it saleable if at the end of the day it's only worth tuppence ha'penny and a Mars bar.
Cavcraft Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Do NOT bale it. (Very) slowly and (very) surely they're just coming out of the danger zone, i.e being one of those cars that people buy just because it's MOT'd and taxed and they're not insured. As is? £250 would be a result to be honest (and even then only because of MOT, tax and bridge money, though the latter is going down) but with a full test and a months tax it has to be worth £400 of anyone's money.Get them to test it quick so there's some rent left on it and a new owner can drive it away. Without tax it's much harder to sell for a couple of reasons, then there's the quandry of re-taxing it (more expense) or just binning the whole thing off. I'd be happy to make a bid on it but obv. it wouldn't be what the owner wants because I'm a mingebag, but it would be 'saved'.
KruJoe Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 That's VERY nice, I'd love it, but in needs to be a year or two older to go on my cla$$ic policy. In the meantime, it can live with Billy, so he can rub his love juice into all its crevices. Hmmm - sloppy seconds.
