Anyone had this problem or heard of it? We've replaced all fuel lines, and had the tank out for inspection of pickup pipes etc. Conks when going up hill too

Apparently, this is an issue with ye olde Rover 75 as well. On that the cause is the failure of the first of the two fuel pumps [the one nearest the tank. or in the tank, not sure] the under bonnet one has to do all the work, and can't cope once the fuel drops to a certain level. This is probably no help at all, but may be worth checking if Ford use the same system

Aye, if that us the case it sounds like the in tank (lift pump?) is knackered. Does it fire up with easy start if car has under 1/4 tank? If so I think that would prove Col's theory.

I don't think the TDDi has a separate lift pump, like a lot of older diesels the injection pump does all the work. Does it run fine with more than 1/4 of a tank? You didn't mention replacing the fuel filter.
