AXA car insurance, anyone use them??

Their quote is far cheaper than our renewal for the Mondeo, £157 against £270! It does have a slightly higher excess of £150 but as far as I know Axa is a reputable company so just wondered if anyone had any experience with them? It's currently with Admiral by the way.

They own Shitcover, with whom I've had some excellent* experience recently.

Basically, I'd only go with them if you expect none of your details (address, car, occupation, shoe size) to change over the course of the year. Otherwise, be prepared for a dry bumming and/or some seriously tedious arguing.

Fortunately, I didn't have to claim, but nowadays it's fair to assume that all insurers are diabolical when it comes to claiming and be surprised on the very rare occasion that one isn't.

Well to be honest, at £157 if they fook us about I would just cancel it and kiss goodbye to the money. I've no intention of changing anything and ALL insurers charge you £30 odd quid for changing anything these days.

*edit* And looking at it, it appears that you can amend things yourself on line to avoid charges. Just hope the PO accept the printed out certificate for car tax!

Yes, that's the whole con. You avoid 'administrative charges' but you lose the 'new customer discount', and the new 'premium' is about 80% higher than a comparable new quote. However, in your circumstances I'd still go for it.

Ah, gotcha...I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed it doesn't fail the MOT in September in a spectacular fashion!

I use them for the house insurance.

Like all companies if they can get away with not paying out they will do.
