This is an extract from an email I received today from the local Saab main agent who are now going to be selling Renault, Dacia & Infiniti. I thought others might be interested to know how the land lies in Saab-land...

To clarify the situation with Saab, Saab has now been purchased by National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS). This agreement covers the main assets of Saab Automobile AB, Saab Automobile Powertrain AB and Saab Automobile Tools AB. It also includes all outstanding shares in the property company which owns the Saab Automobile facilities in Trollhattan, Sweden, where National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB will establish a new venture for the development and manufacturing of electric vehicles. These new cars are expected to be launched in 2013.

Saab UK parts is now owned by the Swedish Government and continues to supply the Humberside Dealerships with all Saab Genuine parts and accessories. We will remain a Saab authorised repairer and service centre and will continue to specialise in nearly new and used Saabs. With the partnership of Saab UK parts we are also pleased to offer Saab Secure, a comprehensive warranty available for Saabs of all ages. So, as you can see, it remains business as usual in the Saab world and we will of course, keep you updated with any further news.

Even down to the Chinese involvement

Saab is to be reborn as an electric car manufacturer focused on China under rescue plans drawn up by a Chinese-born entrepreneur.

One of Scandinavia's best known industrial brands is being bought out of bankruptcy by National Electric Vehicle Sweden. Kai Johan Jiang, the chief executive and main owner of NEVS, said the purchase of Saab heralded a "new era" in the car industry. He added: "Marketing and sales will be global but initially we will focus on China. It's there we see the biggest market for electric cars."
