Managed to finish the welding the other week, and it didn't look too bad. Then I got some paint on it, looks much worse now. Oh well, I can safely say I won't be winning any concourse soon.

Great car, great colour.

Hugely undervalued car the 'modern' Elan.

More details on the engine/spec pls?

Thanks, it's been in my family from new. It's a run out model, with a limited edition number on the dash. S2 turbo, pretty much exactly as it left the factory and delivered to Bell and Colvill in Horsley. It's got the Isuzu 1.6 engine which is pretty strong, great fun on boost.

I'll probably bring it along to Shitefest this year...

So, spurred on by Mr Wobbler, I tried to get my 2CV running again. I had done some bulkhead paint work because someone* had bodged it nastily, and time has started to take its toll

This was tidied a bit, I'm not 100% happy with it but it'll do.

Anyway, that was the start of last year. Fast forward to now, and the battery is totally goosed. Quick look online and they are about £60! When did small batteries become so expensive! anyone have a cheap supplier?

I got a Bosch from ECP a couple of years ago for £53.

Oh, and eBay will try and tell you an 063 doesn't fit a 2cv. Yes it does!

I've had that number in my head for ages, and thought it just old age telling me fibs. I worked in Halfords as a Saturday job when at college ( don't hold that against me!) and I knew the numbers of most batteries for common cars at the time. 063 ordered, thanks.

Yearly thread resurrection!

Total miles driven: 0.

I have run it up to temperature a few times, but it really must go next year. Time to let someone else enjoy it - I've owned it for around 10 years now, and the lack of rear seats belts means I can't take my kids out with me in it.

The paint around the rear was nasty, so I've started sanding it back ready for some fresh paint. What could cause this mess, just bad prep?

I will happily put it in my Citroen car club column for sale if you like. Will need a write up and some photos and a price. 2cv at citroencarclub.org.uk

I’ll pop along and say hello and take photos if you like?

Thanks Richard. I've got to get it mot'd and painted first :)

Hopefully that won't take too long, but my work-life balance doesn't include any time for car tinkering.

No problem. Drop me a call when you’re ready.

I do know about the belts- it’s why I’ve been custodian of my sister’s car for ten years now as it can’t fit child seats.
