Lovely Bedford camper, but why would you fit reflective number plates?

Posted Image

Probably done during the 1970s to make it look more modern. Very few cars had black plates fitted when new by about L-reg. Of course it's the other way round now and most old vehicle owners will fit silver-on-black jobs to emphasise their ride's age.

Naturally, if I ever buy anything dating from about 1967 onwards that has black plates, they're coming right off in favour of some 1970s style reflectives

Hoo boy, think it's gotta be done!! Some superb looking stuff there- not seen a Mk 1 Cortina with it's rear-end jacked-up since about 1975!!!

It was kind of weird. A real show piece/talking point but sort of crap at the same time!It won an award because to be fair it was effing gleaming.

How stunning is this?! My fave car of the day, by some margin! (Cool reg number too, if genuine) Know nothing about them, can anyone enlighten me?

Seems to be a genuine reg number. According to the DVLA, B10 PEL is:

The OPEL Tuner Keinath from Dettingen " the OPEL Monza a2 in few copies as; C5" to the Cabrio converted. One calculated initial still with production numbers between 30 and 40 copies annually, which were however never reached. Altogether 176 changes at the body were necessary, in order to get these so torsionally stiff that without the roof could be done. Nevertheless the Cabrio turned out only approx. 20 kg more heavily, than the standard Coupe. This was among other things because of the omission of the heavy rear flap, which was replaced by a substantially lighter trunk flap from the house Keinath. Also in the interior only noblest materials were used. Instrument panel and seats were referred with scar-free rose leather, at special equipments were among other things a bar and a stereo system available. In series the KC5 equipped with the LCD instrument panel, also otherwise were all substantial ex factory available extras in series inserted. The covering mechanism functioned by means of electric motors and thought out hydraulics. The KC5 with the engines 20E and 30E was available. For this very well equipped Cabrios DM 85.000 by the way at least were,-- to put on.

This was using this handy site, some gibberish but you get the jist of most of it..http://uk.babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt
