O/T: Is there a doctor in the house?

About a month ago I was in the garage messing with stuff as usual. The next morning the tip of my finger was red / swollen / ouchy, typical of having either stuck it with swarf or squashed it.

It's still the bloody same, and every day I wake up thinking OW wtf is wrong with my finger?

My quacks operates on the suck air thru teeth, having a heart attack? well we can perhaps fit you in for 5 minutes in 3 weeks time appointments system. So while I wait any guesses on what I'm likely to have done / how to fix welcome....

If you don't have any confidence in your Doctor, pop into your local A&E and see what they say.

If it's been this way for a month, something is clearly not right, and it's worth getting it checked by professional's rather than forum consensus!

I beg to differ. Hit your opposing thumb repeatedly with largest hammer available, this will take the pain away from the finger with immediate effect.

Don't go to a&e, but your NHS drop in centre. It sounds like you've got it infected and need it broggling (thats a technical term, in case you were wondering).

Walk in centre rather than A&E. You should have one in your area.

Chances are you have picked up a bit of something, though without examining your finger I could not tell you for sure.

You could try using some Magnesium Sulphate held in place with a simple dressing to see if it draws anything out.

Main points to look for are "redness" tracking down your finger - indicative of an infection spreading.

I quite often recommend Deep Heat rub at work, applied directly to the arsehole (ring piece, not patient)as this is a guaranteed way to ensure your mind is taken off the painful appendage.

I used to get shards of metal in the fingers and they always swell up! A&E will freeze it, extract the li'l bit and then it'll sting as it thaws out. Get it done though, as it's currently infected if it swells.

I got a bit directly in the pupil of my eye thanks to an angle grinder and the doctor just scraped it out with a scalpel. The relief was amazing.

Eh? This is Autoshite, not a fuggin NHS helpline man. Why on earth ask for fuggin medical advice on here?

Just go to the local NHS drop in centre, thats what its there for

Thanks Doctors!

We don't have a walk in centre. They opened one, people realised it was a good thing and used it, and the first 2 years budget was used in 3 months. So they closed it. Have booked with normal vets.

Yeah, exactly. Just hammer a smaller finger over it & stop complaining, man!

I went to the doc last week and he said, "You're a hypochondriac!" I said, "Oh no, not that as well"
