Reliant and Mahindra dealer - double win?

Found a place in Redhill that is a proper old garage and were a Mahindra and a Reliant dealership!!

Couple of Foxs out the back and a Mahindra long term project in the workshop.

 

Chatted to the man for a while, the place is full of win and Reliant clocks and signage.

Can see the Reliant Service one as a nice avatar(?) for someone.

I've been here many times for spares, I think they have been a family dealership since the 1930's. They have a quality setup and have an excellent knowledge of obscure Reliant engine an gearbox parts. I bought a NOS Bonnet for a rebel for £10!

 

I'm a bit gutted that the buildings are due to be knocked down and business are going to be moved out for redevelopment. It seems a shame to wipe out 70-80 years of quality to build another crappy development of flats. Hopefully they will find new premises rather than just pack it in.

It's a blinding proper old garage isn't it?

Bloke who runs it is really amicable, we were chatting about the Reliant dealership in Tunbridge Wells and how long ago that went under and the Regal that this old boy down the road had abandoned in his garden and us worse for wear yoofs used to kindly 'rotate' it for him on a Fri/Sat night!

That's a real shame they're putting flats there though.

Where was that, then? I can't remember there being a Reliant dealership in TW.

I've an inkling it used to be at the top end of Calverley Road, near Carr's Corner, but I'm going back yonks (and getting too parochial!) Shame about the Redhill garage. Sounds like the sort of place that's sadly disappearing up and down the country, more's the pity
