There's a program about them on one of the SKY channels - (523 I think) where they'll take one of these survivors and restore them using their 40 ACRE yard choc full of 2000+ vintage rusting chod.

I like this one the best. I wonder how far you'd get if you just handed over 2000 dollars then drove it away?

Probably as far as you needed to! The LTD was Ford USA's Cortina, pretty much. dead basic and very little to go wrong.I think they had either the 302 or 351 V8, both of which are bombproof and very cheap on parts (the most common engine in the world next to the s/b chevrolet) It's the same as the clapped out wreck John Candy drove in "uncle buck"

I LOVE '70s chod like this. its so unnecessarily lardy and gothic in styling with big F*** off engines.

I really bemoan the fact that thanks to high fuel prices, rust and banger races you just don't see cheap yank tin in the UK any more.

I love those 73-78 Fords too, the station wagons are the iconic family hauler of the 70s.

But ultimately I prefer the 60s stuff, the 63 Buick Invicta white sedan (no5155) is the one I'd be booking a flight to Vegas for :D . The 66 Ford two door (below the Buick) is pretty cool too, I don't normally do 'rat/matt look' , but I'd happily roll in that as it is.
