Is it worth stripping the wiring from old cars for scrap?

I had a spare half hour today so I stripped the wiring loom from the Volvo 240 i'm breaking up. I's all copper so I guess must have a bit of scrap value. I have looked round the web and can't find any up to date info on what scrap copper actually fetches nowadays. Is it actually worth doing or am I completley wasting my time?

Cheers for that! I have approx 2-3Kg of insulated wire, so according to that site it's worth about £3 :?

I guess it's worth stashing it away and weighing it in when I have a big load of it.

it's about 1.70 per kilo, at the moment in the north east. (it was over 2 quid a kilo in the summer)

it's worth just keeping a bag for cable (household cable too) until you have 10-20kg

non-ferrous prices are low at the moment, they should* pick up about march/april

biggest buyers of cable are china and india, where labour to strip the insulation is cheap.

* should: because Tom Cowie has just died, and depending what his will decrees, there maybe a lot of copper hitting the market, as his investment company has been stockpiling copper at north shields for at least 10 years, this amount of clean copper ingots hitting the market could be devastating for the price.
